SOLAR WET WELL WATERING SYSTEM

Our Solar Wet Well Watering System combines innovation with technology. Using motion sensor technology, our system provides cattle with a year-round, clean water source to reduce contamination and disease spread amongst the herd. We have different options for voltage: 12, 24, and 110 Volts.

How the system works:
There is a 36-inch culvert casing dug into the ground beside the dugout. A line runs from the bottom of the original water source to the bottom of the wet well. This means that the water is kept from freezing in below zero temperatures, but also kept cool in hot summer weather. The cool temperature and dark environment protects against algae overgrowth. A solar pump pulls water up into the bowl (bowl supplied by Kelln Solar), when a motion sensor mounted above the watering bowl is tripped by cattle coming to drink. When the cattle leave, the water drains back into the wet well, emptying the bowl and line. There is a pen to protect the solar panel and solar box from cattle. This allows the solar eye to be safely positioned above the bowl. The eye can only be tripped when the cows' head is positioned directly above the bowl, saving the system from being activated every time a cow walks by.

KEYKEY BENEFITS

  • A clean and sustainable water source

  • Prevention of a breeding ground for foot rot (in the mud in and alongside dugouts)

  • Elimination of cattle falling through ice or drowning in the muddy edges of water sources
